Folklore:

Is named after Louis Pieters. First discovered by Sid Pieters in 1964, and he chose to name the stone after his father.

▪ Is a member of the Quartz family. It is not a part of the Tigers Eye family, or a mix of any form of Tigers Eye! Pietersite is formed with Jasper, Quartz and Chalcedony.

▪ Is a rarer stone type. 

Locality:

Can only be found in Namibia. There was a small pocket found in China in the 1990s, but this mine was closed down a couple years later.
